At Paramount's King's Island (Cincinnati, OH)

With the demise of Paramount’ King’s Island’s Phantom Theater in the summer of 2002, darkride enthusiasts were both mourning the loss of the ride and wondering what its replacement would be like. Fortunately, unlike Tomb Raider which was a tightly guarded secret until it was unveiled, PKI chose to allow us a sneak peek at the new ride. What follows is a photo tour of the new Sally Corp. darkride as it was in early January, 2003. Note that at that time, the inside of the ride was complete with the exception of some detail work but the outside of the building was still under construction. At the time these photos were taken, the crew was just beginning construction of the draw bridge that guests will cross to enter the ride. Thanks to Paramount’s King’s Island and Jeff Siebert for inviting DAFE to have an early look at the ride and for permission to share the photos with our readers. We aren’t going to show you all the surprises that the ride has in store for you, but we hope that what you see here will lead you to a visit to PKI to experience this new interactive darkride for yourself. Since every other ride vehicle was removed from the new ride, the extra cars are stored in several places behind the scenes in the maintenance area.
